Goodwill of North Georgia’s Floor Technician Certification Program has become a huge success by providing educational training and real world work experience to local residents.
Goodwill of North Georgia and the NWFA have been providing educational training and placement opportunities to area residents, veterans, and women interested in nontraditional works trades. Floors were honored to participant in the initial training program and look forward to our involvement in upcoming workshops. The Floor Technician Certification Program provides students will the necessary skills and certifications, including three National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) degree credits, to become qualified for in-demand positions. Additionally, real world work experience and job placement services are offered at the conclusion of each program.

The above statement is a quote from Joel Negron, owner and founder of Metro Atl. Floors, regarding a recent discussion to further advance the program. Those involved with the meeting included: NWFA, Goodwill, Veterans Affairs, Mapei, Shaw Floors, and Chattahoochee Technical College.
As mentioned by Joel, the first training program was a complete success and promptly placed the majority of its graduates into industry specific positions. Here are some noteworthy stats from the 1st class:
- 12 Graduated from Program with Credentials, Certifications, and Certificates
- 9 have industry specific positions
- 8 were placed by employers that served as Internship Sites
- Graduates cumulative wages are 6% above the entry wages projections for the Ga DOL Bureau of Labor Statistics
