There are a lot of facets involved when choosing the look of your new tile installation. The tile pattern is one of many of those choices to ponder and here is a list of the options:

A diagonal lay is similar to the straight lay, but is set on a 45-degree angle. This slight variation can make a vast difference in a room and is known to create a more expansive feel for an area.
Checkerboard
A checkerboard lay consists of two alternating colors of square tiles. The square tiles can be laid in either a straight or diagonal pattern.
Brick
This pattern resembles what you might see on a brick wall. The rows of tiles are offset slightly and the tiles can come in different sizes.
Pinwheel
A small square tile is surrounded by larger tiles on all four sides.
Windmill
This pattern includeds a small square that is surrounded by four rectangles to create an effect that resembles a windmill.
Basketweave
This is a classic pattern that consists of squares and rectangles organized to create a woven effect.
Modular
One of the more unique patterns, modular lays include three or more different-sized tiles comprising a pattern.
Herringbone
This is a classic pattern that adds sophistication to a room. The pattern resembles zigzags and can have a 3D look to it. Rectangular tiles are used with the narrow ends of two tiles placed together to form an “L” shape. This pattern will be continued throughout the floor. This lay requires substantial skill and hiring a professional may be your best bet for a clean outcome and reduced costs.
